Poverty Eradication Initiative

Rural development generally refers to the process of improving the quality of life and economic well being of people living in relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas.

In DIFAW, we recognize that the Rural African Woman is the backbone of her family, she works tirelessly to contribute her quota to the development of her Community/Nation, yet she is unheard and unsung.

Developing a strategic plan on how to empower the African women is a worthwhile venture. It is important not only as part of a strategy for enhancing incomes and employment, but also for avoiding a deterioration in their poverty situation.

SECURING THE FUTURE AND ENDING POVERTY

  • Skills acquisition, (Non Formal Education, Handcrafts, Agro and Allied products, waste to wealth programme) etc.
  • Computer literacy, (embracing the future through ICT)
  • Financial Education Project, (Financial Education Training, Rural Women Savings and Credit Scheme)
  • Farming
  • Unique Ideas

Women constitute majority of the people living in poverty and faces the greatest hardships. DIFAW’s aim is to empower women by opening up new avenues for economic upliftment.

Ending discrimination against women/girls and promoting gender equality are critical for poverty eradication. It is good to note that women are also uniting to empower each other, fight poverty and inequality.

Development Initiative for African Women (DIFAW) seeks to provide social development platform in rural communities through Education and Income Generation Skills, bearing in mind that every step to improve the lives and social standing of women has ripple effects on Health care, Education, and Economic development. DIFAW identifies an urgent need to ensure access to I.T. in Rural areas. The knowledge of I.C.T will help reduce poverty through providing information on how people of their type somewhere else are handling their situation, also learn about the climate change and how it can affect their farming business.

FINANCIAL EDUCATION PROJECT

DIFAW’s work with women in Rural communities gave us a rare glimpse into their financial habits and challenge.s
Through our Financial Education Training we are able to combine theory with practical applications with an aim to help the Rural women develop the right attitudes about, savings, borrowing money and the basics of managing day to day issues as well as those that come along with more funds and new assets. DIFAW’s aim is to transform Rural Women into successful Entrepreneurs.
